Cupertino Homeowner Investigated In Shooting Death

This story comes our of Silicon Valley.  I have not seen much follow up to the story yet so stay tuned.

Homicide detectives are investigating a Cupertino shooting that killed a man described as a trespasser early Saturday, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence at 4:08 a.m. because a trespasser was trying to kick in a door at the house.  The homeowner opened fire at the trespasser. The deputies found a man with at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s name after they are able to confirm his identity and notify his family.

The fact that it was reported that the trespasser was trying to kick in the homeowners door should be enough to close the investigation, but this is California.

This is why I started 2A Shield and I keep telling everyone to get protected with a Firearms Insurance Membership.  This story appears to be clear cut self-defense, but now this man and his family are going to be dragged through the legal system and potentially spend thousands of dollars on legal representation.
